はっぴいえんど（HAPPY END）由細野晴臣（貝斯）、大瀧詠一（主唱/吉他）、松本隆（鼓手）、鈴木茂（吉他） 所組成的，1971年發表的這張《風街ろまん》，重要性在於標誌著日本音樂歷史上的一個重要轉折點——成功地將源自西方的psychedelic rock/folk影響透過日文歌詞唱出東京都市生活與青春感傷的詩意描寫，從而啟發了所謂「日語搖滾論爭」（日本語ロック論爭）的潮流。不但建構一種關於日式搖滾的「Happy End史觀」，也被視為city pop 的文化源頭之一。
