如果說每個音樂世代中都需要在重要時刻影響整體局勢的英雄人物，那麼由Felix Burton與Simon Ratcliffe所組成的Brixton二人組合Basement Jaxx在當時便扮演著這樣的關鍵角色。

當時他們一崛起便獲譽為「英國版Daft Punk」、被重視為「House救世主」，更自定義自己的創作自為「punk garage」，是因為他們在音樂上以很性感、很酷的New York garage/Chicago house為基幹，而態度上卻是非常英國的，就好像早期punk一樣瘋狂、一樣不受常規定律約束。

首張專輯《Remedy》也的確一鳴驚人締造了銷售（英國專輯榜第四名並誕生三首Billboard舞曲榜冠軍單曲）與評論（Muzik、The Face、Mixmag雜誌全年最佳專輯第一名、入選Spin雜誌「九十年代最佳專輯」與Muzik雜誌「史上50張最佳跳舞專輯」名單）的雙贏局面。
