和U2一樣，《Songs of Faith And Devotion》亦代表著Depeche Mode步入90年代所進行的音樂變革，是樂團正式向techno-rock領域探索的開端；所實行的，是在電子流行曲格局中納入重型粗礦的吉他搖滾聲音，與U2殊途同歸地建構出90年代的Techno Rock模式，〈I Feel You〉這首融入了grunge吉他刷弦、搖滾味十足的作品已是一大例證，甚至主唱Dave也蓄意留起及肩長髮與落腮鬍, 整個樂團較為不修邊幅的形象也更貼近於搖滾組合。
