◎ New Retro Wave 2023最佳synthwave專輯第2名

你能想像thrash-metal經典團Slayer的創團鼓手Dave Lombardo跟90年代英國post-grunge紅團Bush的主唱Gavin Rossdale，同時為一張synthwave風格專輯跨刀嗎？

所說的是，帶來過《Dark All Day》這張被公認為近代最佳synthwave專輯之一的英國樂團Gunship，在2023下半年所帶來的又一張客席陣容超堅強的高水準之作《Unicorn》！

首先，Dave Lombardo參與的開場曲〈Monster in Paradise〉祭出流暢飛馳的synhwave與new wave雙效合一攻略已絕對夠格成為Gunship另一首國歌，更遑論此曲的跨刀名單還星光熠熠地包括了英國nu-metal/digital hardcore單位Wargasm二分之一Milkie Way、曾為電影《捍衛任務》與《星際異攻隊》配樂的Tyler Bates，再加上Tim Cappello吹奏出迷死人不償命的薩可斯風樂韻。至於Gavin Rossdale獻聲加上法國electro恐怖份子Carpenter Brut外援的〈DooM Dance〉，則是炸裂Darksynth與New Beat雙管齊下的重型能量，後半段加入acidic電聲流竄更是讓人聽得血脈賁張。

但要論腎上腺素急升，怎麼樣都不能錯過這張專輯裡我最愛的〈Blood for the Blood God〉！攜手加州post-industrial/electrorock樂團HEALTH並肩作戰帶來的〈DooM Dance〉供輸源源不絕的135 BPM techno-rock動能，直接讓我聯想起近年來大愛的Bristol四人digital-rock/電氣化dance-punk樂團Scalping。

當然，專輯中其他各類的synthwave風格作品都在水準之上，私心認為這是Gunship到目前為止的最佳作品！
