布魯克林電子女唱作人Laurel Halo在2012年甫發表首張專輯《Quarantine》，就獲得向來以刁鑽前衛品味著稱的The Wire雜誌選為年度專輯第1名，絕對一鳴驚人。當時最讓我驚豔的是，竟然讓我在第一次聆聽時浮現當年遇上cLOUDDEAD首作般的聽覺衝擊，一種在avant-pop與ambient electronica間反覆游走、處於某種精神分裂狀態下所勾勒的奇異美感。

第二張專輯《Chance of Rain》封印了前作中的人聲演繹，卻得見更多抽象合成器剪影被嵌入更強大的節奏框架中，甚至時有ambient techno、deconstructed club肌理斧鑿過的痕跡。亦即《Quarantine》中透過歌聲暗示的post-human 疏離感，在此被冷峻嚴酷的post-industrial空間感所取代。

值得一提的，《Chance of Rain》的封面藝術是由Laurel Halo的父親在70 年代所繪製的，本因與音樂創作沒有直接跟關連，但視覺上卻隱約呼應了專輯在聽覺上的錯綜複雜美感。
