在《Rid Of Me》時期，PJ Harvey仍是代表著以Polly Harvey為首的三人樂團；專輯中除了Polly那露骨直接的煽情性慾歌詞以及充滿女性主義的言行依舊引起話題外，更值得注意的是整體的聲音在Steve Albini這位前Big Black成員的製作下（Nirvana的《In Utero》亦出自他之手），展現出更澎湃的爆發力，吉他噪音的運用也更加力走偏鋒(〈Rid Of Me〉、〈50ft Queene〉等單曲都是例證)，甚至翻唱Bob Dylan的〈Highway '61 Revisited〉更像是由Kim Gordon主唱的Sonic Youth作品般。
