最初以「機械娃娃 x 泡泡糖流行曲」的「人工明星」概念式在網路上聲量爆紅，Poppy的2020年專輯《I Disagree》卻快速橫移到金屬與暗黑流行並置的領域。到這張由前 Bring Me The Horizon 成員 Jordan Fish 擔任製作與共同創作的《Negative Spaces》，整張以metalcore、alternative metal聲響為主軸，偶而彩繪electro-pop、hyperpop色調，把「流行旋律 × 重型段落」的轉場做得更俐落、規模更大，把「甜 × 狠」的對比推到極端，展現了比《I Disagree》更整體化的現代金屬流行曲樣貌。
