2022年底才剛有集結林強、小山田圭吾，Thundercat 等高手的致敬合輯問世，日本傳奇音樂大師坂本龍一緊接在2023 年 的71 歲生日當天發表與《async》時隔6年的全新專輯《12》，這也是他這段時間內唯一的「非原聲帶」作品。12首樂章由創作的日期命名與排序，形同兩年半抗癌生活中所寫下的音樂日記，而這些作品也曾在他於12月11日假NHK內部最大型509錄音室所舉辦的線上鋼琴演奏會中首度演出。
