回到十多年前，喜愛post-dubstep/UK Bass的樂迷對於當時總戴著非洲部落感七彩面具示人的SBTRKT決不陌生，接連帶來兩張成功地以song-oriented的角度體現的高評價專輯《SBTRKT》（2014）和《Wonder Where We Land》（2014）不說，還曾受邀為Underworld、These New Puritans、Radiohead、M.I.A.、Basement Jaxx等炮製Remix，絕對是2010年代裡足輕重的電子製作人之一。

《The Rat Road》之所以依舊深得我心，在於邀集了Sampha、D Double E、LEILAH、Toro y Moi、Little Dragon、George Riley⋯⋯等強大的跨領域獻聲陣容，去揉合了UK garage、drum & bass、nu-jazz、PBR&B甚至hyperpop、vaporwave等各類我所喜愛的電音元素讀同時，挑戰流派界限卻不雜亂，反倒是誕生一張具整體性聽覺氛圍的上乘流行電子之作，偶而還能讓人從喧囂中抽離後浸淫在一個讓人沉溺的淒美幽閉氛圍之中。
