有在買過SCAPLING專輯的朋友，應該就會覺得SCALER這個名字看起來似曾相似。

事實上，兩者就是同一個樂團。

原名為SCALPING，這個來自英國Bristol、曾獲NME選為2021百大新秀之一的四人digital-rock/techno-punk樂團電子樂團，在2022年發表的首張專輯《Void》就讓我大為驚艷，呈現出既能讓人血脈賁張、還能具備闇黑迷幻魔性讓人淪陷的電子音樂風貌，曾被形容為「Black Sabbath與The Bug的合體」絕不為過。

但後來樂團才意識到「SCALPING」這個名字在更廣的文化脈絡中，對原住民族（Indigenous peoples）具有冒犯性，因此道歉並改名為 SCALER。

改名後推出的這張新專輯《Endlessly》，雖然仍有〈Broken Entry〉蟄伏著懾人skunk-rock功架而來，但整體來說明顯收斂了搖滾張力而更深鑿於供輸techno、EBM、breaks & bass的電子低頻動能與壓迫感，還在多位主唱參與下帶來多樣聲響與延展性，還不時浮現呼應其Bristol血脈的trip hop風貌。
