一直對Ninja Tune子廠Counter Records有著難以言喻的偏愛，這份愛讓我遇上加拿大電子唱作人Tennyson的首張專輯《Rot》，而且這個封面我也是莫名地喜歡。

《Rot》給我的第一印象已經大好，簡短開場序曲〈In My Head (intro) 〉後登場的〈Feelwitchu〉踏著輕巧old-skool jungle節拍而來之外還畫龍點睛地彩繪一筆acidic 303電聲線條，然後聽著Tennyson那纖弱柔和的嗓音唱出：「Whatever I say / Whatever I do is not enough for you / Wherever you go / Understand that I said what I wanted to」，怎能不愛。

簡單說，《Rot》不僅是曾與Skrillex合作的Tennyson十年磨一劍的結晶，更是關於「平衡」的優異美學展現。所示範的是他過去EP/單曲中那彷彿Boards Of Canada、James Blake、Lido合體的各式downtempo電聲組態與sound design，如何在這張專輯中首度透過更全面的人聲演繹注入流行旋律卻毫不突兀，而且更為令人動容——試著聽聽帶點靈魂韻味的〈Doors〉。

尤其當得知這是Tennyson經歷聽力大損而幾乎斷送音樂生涯後重生所完成的作品，更能感受那種在晦暗中解除武裝的情緒，痛苦而堅定。
