這張外觀不起眼到很容易被略過，但卻是千禧年前後少見、以「日美連線」為核心概念的高執行度很的跨國企劃合集。

《NEXT LEVEL Vol.1》由 File Records 旗下的嘻哈部門 NEXT LEVEL Recordings 發行的的日本hip hop/rap合輯，得見日美饒舌歌手（Microphone Pager、RHYMESTER、Lord Finesse、Zeebra、Biz Markie等） x 美東黃金年代製作名將（如 DJ Premier、Da Beatminerz、Buckwild 等）交錯合作，把 90年代純正 boom-bap 的聲響直接「跨接」到日本場景。

某種程度上，也可視為日本饒舌歌手在當時如何吸收美東語彙後漸次內化出自家語感的文本紀錄，很具價值。
